Traders at Maame Dede in the Upper West Akyem District of the Eastern region, have called on authorities to commission the new market in the area with immediate effect.
The aggrieved traders told Rainbow Radio’s Prince Collins Bening that, the market was constructed some three years ago under former President John Dramani but has not been commissioned for use.
Prince Bening indicated that the market has not been commissioned because of the unavailability of toilet facility.
According to him, some individuals have turned the market into a place of convenience and smoking of marijuana popularly known as ‘wee’.
Prince Collins Bening speaking to Mr. Eugene Sackey the MCE, he said, the market will be commissioned soon.
He revealed to him a contract has been awarded for the construction of a toilet facility and will be completed in about three months after which the market will be commissioned for use.
