Executive Director at the African Centre for Energy Policy Mr. Amin Adams has said that the power barges which is expected to be shipped to Ghana is the solution to our energy crisis.
He indicated that the country would experience the worse ‘dumsor’ if we do not get the money to finance the fueling of our existing plants even if the barges comes in.
Mr. Adam explained that Ghanaians should not put their hope into the power barges because if the plants are maintained on schedule then we would be serious trouble.
He insisted Ghana do not have reserved power barges therefore anything that happens to current our power plants would mean that the ‘dumsor’ would worse.
Mr. Adams further explained that although the barges are coming in November, the actual date for the barges to be used would be in January 2016 because of some technical works that would be done.
He revealed that Ghana has only issued financial clearance for only one barge and therefore Ghanaians should only expect only one barge.
