Govn’t committed to making the fishing industry better-Mahama

President John Mahama has re-assured fisher folks in the Central region of government’s commitment to ensuring that the fishing industry gets better and improves. He said government has adopted a number of technologies to help sustain the country’s sea’s stock, the technologies includes vessel information tracking devices which would help government to monitor activities of unauthorized fishing activities in fishing areas. President Mahama revealed that all fishermen have been advised to fix an identification tracking device on their trolleys to enable authorities monitor activities of fishermen who fish in authorized locations. Another technology the president said has been acquired by government is the fish finding devices which would improve activities of fishermen in fishing community, the device according President Mahama would help fishermen to catch more fish. He explained that the ministry of fisheries would start distributing these devices for the fishermen as soon as possible. President Mahama indicated that one other major project that the government is committed in doing is the fisheries college which the late President Mills promised the community. The college according to Mahama would give training to the fishermen to enhance their skills, knowledge and modern way of fishing. The president was interacting with the fishing community in the Central region as part of his ’Transforming Lives Campaign’ in the region.
