Gospel musician, Nana Yaw Asare known for many hit songs has slammed Ghanaian presenters and DJs who demand payola before playing songs by musicians.
The musician who has been off the music scene for several years said, majority of Ghanaian presenters only play songs after you have been able to give them money.
Although he failed to mention names, he painfully said, presenters are only interested in interviewing musicians who have been off the scene for years to generate traffic for their various stations.
However, these same presenters are not interested in promoting your songs when you release new ones.
He said, even when you are unable to make it to an interview, these stations would force you to even abandon important programmes but will ignore you when you release songs.
He was speaking to Prince Kwesi Dadzie on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm's GH entertainment.
The man known for songs like Odomankoma, Visa, Katinka, Yewo Nyame and others said he has not retired from music but he is currently working on some songs and would soon release same.
The gospel musician indicated that, musicians cannot forever remain consistent and be releasing songs on yearly basis as he did in the past.
Nana Yaw Asare was responding to suggestions that gospel music in recent times lack substance.
In his view, there are some musicians who are releasing inspiring and powerful songs to help people appreciate and worship God.
