Martin Amidu will be approved as SP with or without Supreme Court case-NPP MP

Deputy Majority Chip, Mr. Moses Anim has told Rainbow Radio’ s Kwame Tutu that, the vetting of Martin Amidu as the Special Prosecutor will come on as scheduled despite the suit filed at the Supreme Court challenging his age. According to him, nothing will prevent Martin Amidu from holding the office because the expectations on the part of Ghanaians are high. Former Deputy Attorney General under former President John Dramani Mahama, Dr. Dominic Ayine has challenged the appointment of Martin Amidu as Special Prosecutor at the Supreme Court. Commenting on the issue, Mr. Anim said because the case was before the apex court, he would not comment due to the merit of the case. But he stressed that Martin Amidu would be approved as the Special Prosecutor whether rain or shine. Dr. Ayine, is seeking for a declaration that by a true and proper interpretation of Articles 190(1)(d), 199(1), 199(4), and 295 of the 1992 constitution, the retirement age of all holder of public offices created pursuant to Article 190(1)(d) is sixty (60) years, anyhow not beyond sixty(65) years.; A declaration that by a true and proper interpretation of Articles 190(1)(d) and 199(4) of the 1992 constitution, no person above the age of 65 years is eligible for employment in any public office created under Article 190(1)(d; A declaration that by reason of his age, (66 years), Mr. Martin Alamisi Burns Kaiser Amidu is not qualified or eligible to be approved by Parliament as the Special under Section 13(3) of the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act, 2018 (Act 959); A declaration that by reason of his age, (66 years), Mr. Martin Alamisi Burns Kaiser Amidu is not qualified or eligible to be approved by Parliament as the Special Prosecutor under Section 13(3) of the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act, 2018 (Act 959); A declaration that by the reason of his age, (66 years), Mr. Martin Alamisi Burns Kaiser Amidu is not qualified to be appointed by His Excellency the President of the Republic as the Special Prosecutor under Section 13(3) of the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act, 2018 (Act 959); A declaration that any purported nomination by the Attorney General or approval by Parliament or appointment by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Martin Burns Kaiser Amidu as the Special Prosecutor under Sections 13(3), of the Office of Special Prosecutor Act 2018, (Act 959), is unconstitutional, and therefore, null and void; In the event Martin Amidu Burns Kaiser Amidu has already been vetted and approved by Parliament and/or approved by His Excellency the President of the Republic as the Special Prosecutor under Section 13(3) of Office of the Special Prosecutor Act 2018 (Act 959) prior to the final determination of this suit, an order annulling such nomination, approval and appointment.
