Chairman of the Amputee League Board, Daniel Nii Mensah, has called on President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, to adopt the Amputee League as one of his Social Protection and Job Creation strategies to ensure that the league receives the necessary support it deserves.
Nii Mensah in his speech added: ‘’this will fulfill the age old promise by successive governments, of developing the lesser known sports.’’
The board he announced would also ‘’immediately embark on a rebranding exercise for corporate Ghana to acknowledge that the sport is on the path of revival.’’
A marketing he added has been put together to come out with a business plan and a blue print for our sport to be run as a full fledge self-sufficient business whilst taken the deprived off the streets.’’
He also called on corporate Ghana to support the Amputee League because ''we need headline sponsors of the league and I believe that your sponsorship will not only promote your product and company but also contributing in providing a sustainable livelihood for our brothers.’’
Daniel Nii Mensah admonished the media to support amputee league.
‘’We appeal to the media to provide the necessary platform to enable us receive the support from the public. Disability is not inability. The fact that we left with only one legs and hands does not mean we cannot do anything.’’
Plans are also far advanced to launch a website for amputee league and this would be an active portal with information on the past, present and future events, he stated.
