The Public Relations Officer (PRO), for the Ministry of Health has admonished unposted nurses to exercise patience as government is working around the clock to get them posted.
Mr. Robert Cudjoe, said, at the last picketing organized by the nurses, they were promised to be posted by March this year.
However, speaking to Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he said the nurses will start working this year and that, the promise given them was not emphatic for them to start in March.
He emphasized, we call not go ahead and post the nurses without financial clearance from the Finance Ministry.
The number of unposted nurses he said is so huge and we are working hard to get the over 20,000 nurses posted.
‘’We are on it and definitely they will start working this year,’’ he added.
Meanwhile, President for the unposted nurses, Samuel Asante, says he cannot fathom why the ministry has started shifting the goal post.
He said the nurses were given an assurance that they will be posted by end of March.
According to him, it does not augur well for them and the leadership of the unposted nurses, is engaging with the ministry to ensure their processes go through and members posted.
The group he stated has given the ministry a week ultimatum to see what the turnout would be before they will decide on the next line of action.
Information Minister, Mustapha Hamid, at a news conference in February, said the Finance Ministry has given clearance for them to be employed.
He however did not state specifically which month they will be engaged.
“This year, government is employing 32,000 health professionals, and out of that 27,000 are nurses. The 32,000 are graduates from 2014 to 2016, who are going to be employed, these are people who were left unattended to by the previous administration and we are going to employ them.”
