Tarkwa Divisional Crime Officer, Superintendent Kwabena Otuo Acheampong says they are currently searching for a gospel musician, identified as Kwaku Mintah who has been fingered in the murder of Lance Corporal Nicholas Duku after robbing GH¢900,000.
The robbers after shooting the police escort, took away GH¢900,000 from the businessman identified as Rajinder Singh.
The robbers later abandoned the vehicle they used in the operation, a Nissan Rogue with registration number GE 411-16, at the outskirts of Tarkwa.
The police have arrested some four robbers suspected to have planned and executed the robbery but the gospel musician and five others are currently at large.
In an interview with Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, the crime officer said, per the account of the arrested suspects, Kwaku Mintah drove the Toyota Corolla including David, Mohamed Dauda and him [Kobby] with the money while the robbers from Accra used the Mazda Tribune to follow.
He added: ‘’the police have mounted a search for Kwaku Mintah and the others. They are currently at large. We are appealing to the general public to assist the police with information so we can apprehend the culprits. The total number of robbers is ten. Five came from Accra and the remaining five are residents in Tarkwa.’’
When asked if the police have been able to retrieve the amount of money robbed, he said, GHc50, 000 has been retrieved from one of the suspects.
