Written by  May 17, 2018
Policy think tank The Institute for Liberty and Policy Innovation (ILAPI-Ghana) is reminding government of its ‘’Marshall Plan for Agriculture.’’ A statement which was issued by Executive Director, Peter Bismark recounted the promise by government to provide some 200 tractors and matching implements, construct 50 dams and dugouts, and also make available irrigation facilities. The statement also demanded from government to be reminded of its promise to support 2000 livestock farmers with 70, 000 small ruminants (sheep and goats) to help improve the livelihood of farmers. The statement said: ‘’ its six months after the budget was read to our representatives in parliament. Has the government started anything around them? We are only reminding him of the first part of the promises at the Agric sector. The second part follows soon.’’ Read the Full Statement The Institute for Liberty & Policy Innovation (ILAPI) NPP government vrs Agriculture We would like to remind the NPP government of the "Marshall Plan for Agriculture" (MPA) in the 2018 budget. Over to you: 1. 200 tractors and matching implements, and 1,000 Power-tillers and walking tractors to be distributed to enhance agricultural mechanization. 2. Construct 50 small dams and dugouts to make available an additional 147ha of irrigation land for crop production to facilitate and promote double-cropping. 3. 2000 livestock farmers will be supported with 70,000 small ruminants (sheep and goats) to help improve livelihood of livestock farmers in all ten (10) regions. 4. Support 6 National Livestock Breeding Stations to produce and distribute 200 crossbred pigs and 100,000 cockerels. It's six months after the budget was read to our representatives in parliament. Has the government started anything around them? We are only reminding him of the first part of the promises at the Agric sector. The second part follows soon. Peter Bismark ILAPI Tema.
