Mahama did not block GFA probe; He prevented media backlash & interference-Anyidoho

Written by  May 23, 2018
Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has gone berserk over a story attributed to him in which he purportedly said, former President John Dramani Mahama, prevented an investigation into alleged malpractices under Kwesi Nyantakyi, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, when he was Vice President under late Mills. Speaking to Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, the outspoken politician expressed extreme anger over what he described as false the story. The story which was published by Ghanaweb following an interview Koku Anyidoho granted KKB said, “We thought that we had to look into GFA matters. This business where government is sponsoring football yet we can’t look into their affairs to me is quizzy.” He said. “There was a typical issue that had to do with Kwesi Nyantakyi and the GFA. And some of us sports enthusiasts like Nii Lante, Kojo Bonsu, Kojo Twum Boafo at the time.. we thought that Kwesi Nyantakyi was doing something wrong and having come into power we needed to go into the FA as a government but I think somehow Kwesi Nyantakyi found his way to the Vice President John Mahama and the Vice President had a chat with President Mills. So the president asked us his boys to slow down on Nyantakyi”, he revealed. But when he was confronted with the question on whether he made the comments, Mr. Anyidoho said he wondered why the media is casting him a bad light. ‘’What does the media want from me. Why would they always publish false stories about me? ‘’I was having an interview with KKB and I was confronted with the question of being more powerful than the Vice President and I disputed it and even gave an example that, there was issue at the GFA we needed to investigate. But the Vice was able to reach the President and cautioned him because the media was going to say we are interfering in the affairs of the GFA. How does that come to say that I said Mahama interfered with investigations? ‘’I don’t want to discuss that issue…I am tired of this thing about Koku Mahama, Koku Mahama… I don’t want to discuss that issue. If you want to discuss Nyantakyi and what is happening today, let us go into it…What do you people want from me? Can't this issue die? He later apologised for going ''high'' and stressed that, there was no bad blood between him and Mr. Mahama.
