A Deputy National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as criminals.
Joshua Hamidu Akamba believes the party is infested with lairs who have insulted Ghanaians following the documents available on the purchasing of the 275 mini buses for the various constituencies.
He wondered why Freddie Blay would be credited with the buses when documents are available to provide details that he was only a guarantor.
‘’So now, it also tells you that the NPP is full of lairs, excuse me to say they are criminals. We were in this country when the NPP led by Dr Bawumia went to China to beg for money…All of a sudden, the NPP is able to raise $11 million to buy mini buses for their constituencies and Freddie Blay claiming at that time that, he purchased the buses. That should tell you the kind of people the NPP are. They are governing this country with lies.’’
The incompetence of the NPP he lamented has brought untold hardship on Ghanaians.
‘’The NPP is not consistent. They always lie. Because of them, Ghanaians are suffering, nurses are suffering, journalists are suffering, lawyers are suffering, taxi drivers are suffering, and Ghana is in darkness. Ghana is sinking at a very speedy rate. It is a shame. Businessmen can no longer clear their wares at the ports. Businessmen are crying, Ghanaians are suffering, doctors are suffering and everybody is suffering and the NPP is rich and their wives and relatives are rich and they are insulting us and calling us foolish for demanding for answers.’’
He is also questioning the level of income Mr Blay would have to allow him pay for the $11 million used in purchasing the mini buses.
Mr Blay has described as foolish the demand for him to be investigated over the purchase of the buses.
Speaking in an interview with Accra based Joy FM, the newly elected chairman said: ‘’ ‘’the party needs to be resourced. People think parties are leeches on government. I say that they don’t need to be leeches. Whether we are in or out of government, parties must run. We want to generate income for the party. It is not dash. The buses are to work and bring in money for the party.
‘’It is not me sitting down there who is buying the buses. The party may not have the means to acquire the buses, so a stop-gap measure, I am doing it for the party as chairman.’’
“I informed the steering committee, I told them at a meeting,” he added.
On the allegations of vote buying, Mr Blay furiously shot down the claims; saying “it is amazing that people will suggest that”.
“It’s very foolish for people to ask that,” he noted.
Commenting on it, Mr Akamba slammed Freddie Blay for insulting Ghanaians who are demanding for an investigation to be conducted on him and his activities at the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) where he [Blay] chairs the board.
‘’Freddie Blay was insulting Ghanaians. He insulted whoever dared to ask questions. He insulted and called us foolish. When Asiedu Nketia sued him, he was unable to pay but today, he is able to purchase 275 mini buses.’’
