The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr Clement Apaak, is demanding an apology from President Akufo-Addo over circumstances leading to the executive approval given the controversial renegotiated Ameri deal.
The legislator is of the view that, the dismissal of Energy Minister, Mr Boakye Agyarko, should not an end to the controversy hence the need for the president to render an apology to Ghanaians.
He is also questioning the basis upon which the executive approval was granted.
He raised a number of questions including why Nana Addo’s Executive Secretary, Asante Bediatuo issued a letter announcing that, the president has approved the deal although it later turned out the president was misled.
Dr Apaak a former presidential staffer is opining that the explanation from the seat of government is not only strange considering the fact that, the approval has not been withdrawn despite claims the number one gentleman was mislead.
He said: ‘’Ameri Double Track: Mr. President you owe Ghanaians an explanation and an apology. Sacking the Energy Minister raises more questions than you can imagine. Let's be honest Sir, the Minister could not have been the only person responsible for what your outfit claims he did, which caused his sacking. Look, for a deal to have been brought before parliament with your approval, executive approval is no joke: Such will imply that you, Mr. President, agreed, that your advisers agreed and your key staff agreed. If not, on what basis did you grant your approval, executive approval. Is it the case that your executive Secretary was part of misleading you; did he sign the letter granting your approval without your knowledge or authorisation? It just does not add up Mr. President. Sir, it is strange that the only time the Jubilee House, your office; spoke about this was via the statement firing the Minister? And truly you have not told us exactly how you were misled? Sir, were you misled? As I write now Sir, the dubious renegotiated agreement has not been withdrawn, no letter to that effect has been written by your good self to parliament withdrawing the atrocious deal. I remain a citizen.’’
