The newly appointed Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Mrs Cynthia Morrison has said her appointment came to her as a surprise.
The legislator for Agona West told Kwame Tutu on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm Friday she had travelled on an official duty with the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and got to know about her appointment upon her return from the journey.
She pledged to work in the interest of unprivileged, elderly people, women and children.
The legislator is one of new faces being introduced after the first ministerial reshuffle by the president.
She is taking over form Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba who has been appointed Ambassador designate to Italy.
Mrs Cynthia Morrison told the host the gender thing is so much on her heart and as an advocate, she hates to see people especially children being abused or molested.
She is looking forward to work with individuals and stakeholders in the sector to succeed.
Mrs Morrison is known to be an advocate for the aged and physically challenged persons.
She organizes free health screening annually for her constituents and has been advocating on gender issues in parliament.
