Abuakwa North By-election for March 29 Featured

The Electoral Commission has in accordance with Article 112(5) of the Constitution, set Tuesday 29 March, 2016 as the date for the bye-election of the Abuakwa North constituency, following the sudden demise of the late Hon. Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu who gruesomely murdered at his Shiashie residence on February 9, 2016. An official statement signed by the Deputy Director in charge of operations at the Electoral Commission announced the Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 March, 2016 for picking of nomination forms at the District or Regional Office of the Commission at Koforidua. Interested candidates who wish to contest for the elections may have pay an amount of GHC 1000 cedis as filing fee. The Hon. Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu was stabbed multiple times leading to his untimely death, according to a preliminary investigations by the Police Administration. The prime suspect officially charged for the murder of the late MP, Daniel Asiedu was arrested at Agogbloshie his hideout after he attempted to unlock two mobile phones believed to belong to the late legislator. He will reappear before the Accra Magistrate Court on the 1, March and should he be committed of the crime, his case will be heard by the Accra High Court.   Below is the statement from the EC Following the death of the Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa North Constituency, Hon. Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu and in accordance with Article 112(5) of the Constitution, as amended, the Electoral Commission will hold a by-election in the constituency on Tuesday, the 29th Day of March, 2016.   Nominations for the election will be taken on Tuesday the 1st day of March and Wednesday the 2nd day of March, 2016 at the District Office of the Commission at Tafo in the Eastern Region, from 9:00am to 12:00noon and 2:00pm to 5:00pm both days.   Nomination forms may be obtained from the District Office or the Regional Office of the Commission at Koforidua.   Candidates for the election shall provide two recent photographs (bust) with red background, showing the full face and both ears.   The filing fee for the election is One Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢1,000.00).   All interested candidates and political parties are to take note and be guided accordingly.     SIGNED AMADU SULLEY DEPUTY CHAIRMAN (OPERATIONS)
