The Supreme will today hear an application filed by National Democratic Congress' (NDC), Parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korle constituency, Dr. Zanetor Rawlings over her candidature.
She is challenging the capacity of a High Court hearing the case in which her candidature in being contested.
This follows an adjournment last week due to the unavailability of the judges empanelled to hear the case.
Dr. Zanetor is being challenged by incumbent Member of Parliament, Nii Armah Ashietey over his defeat citing constitutional breaches.
Nii Armah Ashietey argues that Dr. Rawlings did not qualify to be elected as the parliamentary candidate since at the time of the primaries; she was not a registered voter. This according to him is a serious constitution breach but lawyers of DR. Zanetor Rawlings believes the High Court is not appropriate forum to hear the matter.
Dr. Zanetor is therefore praying the court to stop the judge hearing the case at the High Court.
Nii Armah Ashietey is asking the High Court to declare as null and void the results of the primaries and also stop Dr. Rawlings from holding herself as the candidate.
Dr. Zanetor Rawlings on the other hand has subsequently registered as a voter ahead of the November 7, elections but lawyer for Nii Armah Ashietey says the 'fresh' registration will not validate her [Zanetor's] registration.
