A communication officer with National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abu Afandi has stated that the situation at the Agbogloshie market is very serious however, the regional security coordinating council is taking it likely.Speaking to Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he emphasized that the renewed clashes which killed one person and injured others is not tribal as suggested but political.
The Ghana Police Service have arrested five suspects in relation to the Agbogloshie incident, which claimed one life last Tuesday, in the major business area in Accra. The deceased, a male aged about 27, suffered gunshot and cutlass wounds.
Abu Afandi said: ''The regional security council are taking it likely...The whole thing has nothing to do with tribal issue. It is purely political.''
He added: ''the Regent of Dagbon has spoken and he did not mince any words. He said, the whole thing has nothing to do with Dagombas and Kokombas having a problem. These are criminals who have been paid by unscrupulous politicians to do all these things just to sway away from a lot of issues happening in this country.''
He said, we are sitting on a time bomb in Accra especially at Agbogbloshie. He further warned that there could be a reprisal attack and has charged the security council to crack the whip on those who caused the violent attacks.According to him, photos of the suspects have been handed over to police and wonders why they have not acted on it.
