Convener for Citizen Awake a pressure group that champions anti-corruption campaigns, Kojo Smith has said they will not keep mute over corrupt practices under the current NPP led administration.
Speaking to Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he said they are keenly monitoring the current government across the various ministries and agencies to ensure that Ghanaians get accountable leadership.
According to him, it will be too early to attack the current Nana Addo led administration, but we will not hesitate to expose their corrupt deals if one occurs, he added.
‘’The government is too young and it is too early for us to attack the government but we are doing serious monitoring and when the need arises, we will inform Ghanaians on any issue that will pop up,’’ he said.
Corruption under former president John Dramani Mahama he posited was unprecedented, disgusting and gained international embarrassment.
He told the host that, Citizen Awake will work closely with the current administration to prosecute former state officials who were engaged in corrupt acts and financial misappropriation.
Kojo Smith stressed that, they are aware that some level of corruption maybe ongoing under the current administration and Citizen Awake will not relent in its effort to expose them.
He said there are specific persons who will certainly be prosecuted. He made specific mention of the Smarty’s Deal and emphasised that those who were embroiled in the deal will not go unpunished.
