National Coordinator for the One-District-One-Factory, Gifty Ohene Konadu has emphasized that government is set to launch the flagship policy.
According to her, the major policy is set to take off after serious consultation with stakeholders.
She said we are set, the factories are for individuals and we as government will provide an enabling environment for the owners. We will ensure that interest rate is lowered drastically. The financing is long term and between 7-25 years, she added.
Madam Gifty Ohene Konadu stated that government’s intervention is to ensure sustainability of the programme, creation of more jobs for the youth and development within the various districts.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will officially launch the programme on August 25,2017 at Ekumfi in the Central region.
The launch will be the formal launch of the implementation of the One District One Factory policy in fulfillment of a pledge by President Akufo-Addo to see the actualization of the industrialization of Ghana as part of the transformation process he envisages for the country.
The launch according to her, will include a sod-cutting to begin the construction of the Ekumfi Fruit Processing Company factory which will process pineapples for the local and international market,’’ the statement said.
Currently the company cultivates the fruit and seeks to expand its operations into processing, she said.
The Coordinator said government will not only assist entrepreneurs who are set and ready to state operating a factory with constant supply of raw materials.
She said we have approved every district and the only thing left is the readiness, she concluded.
