Man arrested over human parts business

The Awutu Breku Police Command have arrested a 23 year-old man in a suspected human parts business. The suspect, Samuel Dzamesi was reportedly caught exhuming a body at the cemetery and removing some parts. The incident occurred at Fetteh Kakraba today (Saturday). Rainbow Radio's correspondent Nana Yaw Asare, speaking with Awutu Bereku's Police Chief Inspector Stephen Tamakloe revealed that, Samuel Dzamesi, was arrested by some youth of Fetteh Kakraba removing human parts and he has confirmed that, the suspect was brought to the police station with the human parts including skulls. He is being accused of engaging in ritual and money sacrifices. Meanwhile, an irritate youth of the community have raised red flags over how the suspect was treated by the police. The suspect they said had his face covered preventing residents from seeing him. An investigation into the matter has begun.

Gospel musician, Nana Yaw Asare known for many hit songs has slammed Ghanaian presenters and DJs who demand payola before playing songs by musicians. The musician who has been off the music scene for several years said, majority of Ghanaian presenters only play songs after you have been able to give them money. Although he failed to mention names, he painfully said, presenters are only interested in interviewing musicians who have been off the scene for years to generate traffic for their various stations. However, these same presenters are not interested in promoting your songs when you release new ones. He said, even when you are unable to make it to an interview, these stations would force you to even abandon important programmes but will ignore you when you release songs. He was speaking to Prince Kwesi Dadzie on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm's GH entertainment. The man known for songs like Odomankoma, Visa, Katinka, Yewo Nyame and others said he has not retired from music but he is currently working on some songs and would soon release same. The gospel musician indicated that, musicians cannot forever remain consistent and be releasing songs on yearly basis as he did in the past. Nana Yaw Asare was responding to suggestions that gospel music in recent times lack substance. In his view, there are some musicians who are releasing inspiring and powerful songs to help people appreciate and worship God.

Highlife musician and songwriter, Dada Hafco has described fellow highlife musicians, Kidi and Kwame Eugene as the current greatest musicians we have in Ghana today. The controversial musician was reacting to his nomination at the Ghana Music Awards South Africa where the two artistes he referred to as greatest at the moment, have also been nominated in the same category. Speaking to Prince Kwesi Dadzie aka Mr Handsome on GH entertainment on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, Dada Hafco said he is however not scared because the two have been nominated in the same category. He said, every artiste nominated in any category of any award scheme, is a potential winner. The artiste recently released the official music video for his highly circulated single, titled "Yebewu Nti". The song which had massive social media rotation including dozens of viral 'Yebewu Nti' challenge videos comes with a comic filled music video. Directed by Kenn Ayiah, the video features cameo appearances from Kumawood actor Yaw Dabo and comedian Baba Spirit whose presence brought many humour-filled scenes. The song was produced by DDT.

The family of former UN secretary General, Kofi Annan, has called on Ghanaians to give the family the privacy it deserves as they mourn the passing of their son, father and member. A statement issued to confirm his death said, the family kindly requests privacy at this time of mourning. Arrangements to celebrate his remarkable life will be announced later. According to the statement from the family, the late "Kofi Annan was a global statesman and a deeply committed internationalist who fought throughout his life for a fairer and more peaceful world. During his distinguished career and leadership of the United Nations he was an ardent champion of peace, sustainable development, human rights and the rule of law." Read Below the full statement: It is with immense sadness that the Annan family and the Kofi Annan Foundation announce that Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the United Nations and Nobel Peace Laureate, passed away peacefully on Saturday 18th August after a short illness. His wife Nane and their children Ama, Kojo and Nina were by his side during his last days. Kofi Annan was a global statesman and a deeply committed internationalist who fought throughout his life for a fairer and more peaceful world. During his distinguished career and leadership of the United Nations he was an ardent champion of peace, sustainable development, human rights and the rule of law. After stepping down from the United Nations, he continued to work tirelessly in the cause of peace through his chairmanship of the Kofi Annan Foundation and as chair of The Elders, the group founded by Nelson Mandela. He was an inspiration to young and old alike. Kofi Annan was a son of Ghana and felt a special responsibility towards Africa. He was particularly committed to African development and deeply engaged in many initiatives, including his chairmanship of the Africa Progress Panel and his early leadership of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA). Wherever there was suffering or need, he reached out and touched many people with his deep compassion and empathy. He selflessly placed others first, radiating genuine kindness, warmth and brilliance in all he did. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has eulogised former UN secretary General, Kofi Annan who passed on today (Saturday) in Switzerland. The President in the statement onbehalf of Ghanaians consoled the family of the deceased who was Africa's first son to ascend the top most job as UN secetary General and served for two terms. The statement from the presidency read:"The Government and people of Ghana, First Lady Rebecca and I are deeply saddened by the news of the death, in Berne, Switzerland, of one of our greatest compatriots, Mr. Kofi Annan. I extend, on behalf of the entire Ghanaian nation, our sincere, heartfelt condolences to his beloved widow, Nane Maria, and to his devoted children, Ama, Kojo and Nina, on this great loss. I am, however, comforted by the information, after speaking to Nane Maria, that he died peacefully in his sleep. It added, "Consummate international diplomat and highly respected former Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. Kofi Annan was the first from sub-Saharan Africa to occupy this exalted position. He brought considerable renown to our country by this position and through his conduct and comportment in the global arena. He was an ardent believer in the capacity of the Ghanaian to chart his or her own course onto the path of progress and prosperity. Undoubtedly, he excelled in the various undertakings of his life, leaving in his trail most pleasant memories. His was a life well-lived. Veep off to Mecca to perform Hajj

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has left Ghana for Mecca Friday to perform the Islamic pilgrimage of Hajj. A statement issued from the office of the Vice President said, "Vice President Bawumia, accompanied by his wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia, will join thousands of Ghanaians and millions of Muslims around the world in performing this year’s Hajj." The former Secretary General of the United Nations Kofi Annan is dead, rainbowradioonline.com has gathered. According to details, the former Ghanaian diplomat died in Switzerland on Thursday after a protracted illness. Mr. Annan was the 7th Secretary-General of the United Nations. He was appointed as the Secretary-General on 13 December 1996 by the Security Council, and later confirmed by the General Assembly, making him the first office holder to be elected from the UN staff itself. He was re-elected for a second term in 2001, and was succeeded as Secretary-General by Ban Ki-moon on 1 January 2007. Kofi Atta Annan was born on 8 April 1938 in Kumasi, in the Ashanti region of Ghana. Annan and the UN were the co-recipients of the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize.
