The fourth edition of the annual blood donation exercise organized by Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm has successfully come off today [Saturday]. The blood donation was organized at the forecourt of the station and was in partnership with the 37 Military Hospital. Over 95 pints of blood were collected from volunteers who stormed the venue to donate. The donors speaking to Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm underscored the need for people to donate on regular basis to help save lives. They commended the station for the exercise and encouraged management to continue with the exercise annually to help save lives. A donor said, ‘’I feel excited that I have been able to save a life through the donation today. I will encourage others to see voluntary donation as a means to save lives.’’ Another donor also said: ‘’I feel proud today for donating to help save lives. I see this as an opportunity to save others who are in dire need of blood to sustain them.’’ Medical Laboratory Scientist at the 37 Military Hospital Blood Bank, Major Oko-Bensu, was happy and said the pints of blood collected was encouraging. He expressed gratitude to all the donors and encouraged them to donate on regular basis. He also thanked Rainbow Radio for running the exercise annually. The pints of blood collected will go a long way to help the hospital serve our patients and those in need of it, he added. General Manager in charge of Clients, Nana Adjoa Owusu, was thankful to donors who supported the exercise. She also extended the gratitude to all sponsors who sponsored the fourth edition of the blood donation exercise. Sponsors for the revise are: The Hunger Project, Jordan Limited, Coca Cola, Caphanz Company Limited, Florescent Boutique, Capital O2, Spintex Chemist and Binarone. The rest are: Rush Energy Drink and Verna Natural Minieral Water, Awo Koko, Indomie, Feroclear Blood Tonic, Quantum Medical Eye Centre, A1 Bread, Marine and General Insurance, Hajia Special Restaurant and Precious Minerals and Marketing Ltd (PMMC). The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, left Ghana on Friday, 21st September, 2018, to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the President-elect of the Republic of Mali, H.E. Ibrahim Boubacar Keita. President Akufo-Addo will, after the inauguration ceremony, leave Mali on Saturday, 22nd September, 2018, to lead Ghana’s delegation to the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly. Whilst there, the President, as co-Chair of the Advocacy Group of Eminent Persons for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), will participate in a series of SDGs events, and also deliver a speech at the High Level event on the United Nations Youth Strategy. He will also receive the 2018 Outstanding Leaders Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in recognition of his leadership and commitment to championing trade and investment as the means of helping grow Ghana’s economy. President Akufo-Addo will also hold bilateral talks with some colleague Heads of State, as well as with some CEOs of important global enterprises, and, on Wednesday, 26th September, 2018, address the General Assembly. He was accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo; Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, MP; and officials from the Presidency and Foreign Ministry. President Akufo-Addo will return to Ghana on Sunday, 30th September, 2018, and in his absence the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, shall, in accordance with Article 60(8) of the Constitution, act in his stead.

Volunteers have stormed the premises of the station to donate and help save a life. Speaking to Rainbowradioonline.com, the volunteers said they felt it was part of their contribution to help the hospital have access to enough blood to help save lives.
