The Minister of Health, Kwamu Agyemang Manu has today [Friday] commissioned a new emergency centre at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
The centre forms part of the surgical emergency unit of the premiere hospital.
The new centre is a 60-bed, 30-trolley facility.
It is expected to ease congestion at the old Surgical Medical Emergency Unit “in the short and medium term period”.
Speaking at the commissioning, the Minister of Health Kwaku Agyemang Manu reiterated government’s plans to provide more ambulances and establish and effective emergency call centre to support emergency healthcare delivery at the facility.
Government he announced has accepted to make specialist training for doctors’ fee free from the next enrolment period.
