Supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have stormed the headquarters of the Electoral Commission (EC) in anticipation that the candidate of the party, John Dramani Mahama.
They told Rainbow Radio’s Fiifi Ankomah that they are there to witness the declaration of Mr. Mahama as the president-elect.
The supporters told him the party’s leadership has assured them that they have won the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.
The EC had planned to declare the results at 5 pm but it has issued another statement saying the time has been extended to ensure accuracy.
“The Electoral Commission informs the General Public that to ensure the collation of results at the Constituency and Regional Collation Centres across the country is accurate, the EC will extend its intended timeline for declaring the 2020 Presidential election results. The new timeline will be communicated shortly,” the statement from the EC said.
