NDC wins Sene West

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has won the parliamentary election at the Sene West constituency.

The seat came under contention and process was suspended for the counting and declaration after a ballot box snatching incident barred the collation and declaration of the parliamentary result.

A court injunction was places on the counting and declaration of the results by the NPP candidate Joseph Kuma Mackay.

The Wenchi High Court sat on injunction application today and threw it out describing the petition as irredeemably incompetent.

A cost of GH¢14,000 was awarded against petitioner, the NPP parliamentary candidate.

The court then gave the EC the directive to either count the snatched ballot box or organize a new election.

The EC chose to go with the first option and counted the papers in the snatched ballot box.

After the count NDC parliamentary candidate Hon. Kwame Twumasi Ampofo got 275 while the NPP’s candidate got 148.

This made the NDC’s candidate Hon. Kwame Twumasi Ampofo retain the seat.

He won with a vote difference of 16.
