The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Alban Bagbin has ruled that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the independent MP for Fomena Andrew Amoako Asiamah now constitute the Majority Group in the House.

Before this ruling, he referred to the official letter the Fomena MP wrote to him expressing his interest to transact business with the NPP.

The independent Member of Parliament (MP) for Fomena, Andrew Asiamah Amoako two days ago officially wrote to the Speaker informing him that he will do business with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus in Parliament.

In his letter, he said he “shall to transact business in the house associate with the NPP caucus in the Eighth Parliament.”

”For the avoidance of doubt, I do hereby affirm that I shall cooperate and collaborate with the NPP caucus in the Eighth Parliament.”

The Speaker ruling on the matter said this makes the NPP Caucus and the independent MP the Majority Group.

This drew wild jubilation from the side of the NPP with the NDC clapping back at them.

Some of the NDC MPs commented saying they (NPP MPs) were desperate to win.

After the back and forth, the Speaker warned he will not entertain any form of unprintable words from any member of the House.
