Concentrate on Sports development & not just football-Mustapha Yussif told

The minister-designate for Youth and Sports Mustapha Yussif has been advised to concentrate on the promotion and development of sports and not just football.

If he can do this, he will succeed as a sports minister and last longer at the ministry, renowned broadcaster, Charles ‘The Barrister’ Osei Asibey has advised.

He has also cautioned the new minister-designate Mustapha Yussif to respect all the stakeholders he would be working with.

He said the new minister-designate should have a lot of stakeholder engagements so he would function effectively or he could be out of the ministry in the shortest possible time.

He said the new minister-designate will succeed should he concentrate on developing sports in Ghana and not just football.

He stressed the need for the new appointee to respect the media, and haste slowly and allow his work to speak for him.

He wants him to develop a strong relationship with all the federations in Ghana and also empower them to succeed.

He said one thing that made Isaac Asiamah succeed as a minister was that he allowed his works to speak for him instead of him talking at every opportunity.

“He should be the father figure for the federations in Ghana. He should be the father of all youth groups in Ghana and all media houses. He should not be selective. The other important thing he should focus on is to prioritize the 2023 All African Games. It is a legacy he must protect. That should be his focus. He must empower all the federations. I would be happy if he can use the Office of the Vice President to support federations in Ghana such as boxing, arm wrestling, and others so that they will be independent like the GFA. If he can support the federations for them to be independent, he would be successful.”
