Defence Minister-designate Dominic Nitiwul has given an indication that the government will consider the proposal to relocate the Burma Camp to the Segleme Housing Project Area in Segleme.
This was after NDC MP, Mahama Ayariga proposed this to him considering the fact that the Burma Camp and other military installations that were now in the middle of congested Accra to Segleme Housing Project Area in Segleme.
The Bawku Central MP taking his turn to ask the nominee questions proposed to the Minister for Defence nominee; Mr Dominic Nitiwul MP, if the NPP government will consider relocating the Burma Camp and other military installations that are now in the middle of congested Accra to Segleme Housing Project Area in Segleme.
The legislator noted that there are 1,024 units of flats generally ready for use at Segleme. The location is also near the military training ground and it was even contemplated that a new International Airport was to be sited at Prampram, and If both proposal were to materialise Ghana Airforce can also develop a facility there.
The Defence Minister nominee agreed with him and said it was an interesting proposal and a national conversation should take place around the matter.
The NDC MP explained that the issue arose in the context of issues of accommodation for members of the Ghana Armed Forces.
This suggestion was strongly supported by Hon Haruna Iddrisu, the Minority Leader.
