The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has called for tolerance towards the discussion surrounding the issue of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex + COMMUNITY.
CHRAJ says although those against the practice are basing their arguments on our cultural values, they should be minded of the constitutional provision which guarantees the fundamental human rights of all Ghanaians.
A statement issued said the LGBTQI+ community are human beings and entitled to their dignity.
It has therefore asked the public to desist from discussions that could fuel aggression, hatred and violence against them.
It also asked Ghanaians to be each other’s keeper as they discuss the issue despite the values and customs we have as a people.
