Noble Trust Herbal Clinic has been adjudged the Overall Best Herbal Hospital of the Year at the 4th African Traditional and Alternative Medical Awards 2021 held over the weekend.
The facility beat over 15,000 herbal practitioners at the prestigious event to emerge as the overall best.
It was also adjudged Best Television Health talk Show of the Year (Homebase TV) and Best Disease Treatment Centre of the Year.
Speaking to Rainboradioonline.com, Dr. George Donkor, the CEO of the facility, stated that the facility won these awards because its dedicated and quality service.
He explained that they are positive that the measures put in place by the facility during the time of Covid-19 got them these awards.
He said before the lockdown was announced, they organised free health screening exercise to check the heart, liver, kidney and other vital parts of the body at no cost to the persons who participated.
According to him, during the lockdown, the Clinic initiated a home service for clients where they moved from house to house, delivering affordable healthcare to patients.
He added that there were also doing delivery services of drugs to clients.
He further disclosed the Clinic used virtual means to book appointments for people who needed healthcare and was serving them as and when necessary.
Through their international partners in India-Health and Hopes International Patient, Care-the Clinic organised a free cancer consultation for Ghanaians who are cancer patients or suspected of being cancer patients.
”We did a whole lof things for free. When you are a business or an organisation, we have something we call corporate social responsibility for the people you serve. As a facility, we believe in that. Aside from that, we are aware aged people also have benefits in our facility. Those who are 60 years and above get half the cost of drugs. All these things contribute to the overall success of the Clinic,” he added.
Meanwhile, he has admonished the government to support herbal medicine practitioners because over 70% of the population depend on herbal medicine.
He called for a large state of the art factory where herbal practitioners without the needed financial muscles for factories could go there and produce their drugs.
Dr. George Donkor was hopeful Ghana could be in the league of Indiana and China when it comes to the production of herbal drugs.
He was also happy that some of the drugs produced by herbal medicine practitioners including his clinic were approved as supportive therapy for Covid-19.
