The Member of Parliament for Builsa South Dr. Clement Apaak has asked Ghanaians especially, members of the umbrella fraternity to keep faith with the Minority despite the recent happenings in the House.
The legislator says the Minority started on a high note on January 7, 2021, when they strongly mobilised themselves in ensuring that the Speaker came from their side.
But that struggle and which made them heroes has gone on a low note with them becoming villains.
Dr. Apaak indicated that they have learnt their lessons and will redeem themselves when their House return from recess.
He was optimistic they will once become the heroes of January 7, 2021, and has admonished Ghanaians to have faith in them.
There is currently a mutiny ongoing in the Minority.
Lawmaker Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has resigned from parliament’s Appointments Committee with immediate effect.
The North Tongu MP, in a letter to the Speaker of Parliament on Tuesday, March 30, said the decision was taken after careful consideration adding, that it was on a matter of principle.
Mr Ablakwa also stated in his letter that as a result of his decision he would be unavailable for the vetting of deputy ministers yet-to-be nominated by President Akufo-Addo.
Some have argued that this was a vote of no confidence in the leader with others speculating that they could be a change in leadership.
But commenting, that Apaak noted that the Minority will redeem itself hence Ghanaians should keep faith with them.
He said ”what has happened has happened and as a caucus, they are looking forward to bouncing back stronger. We have learnt our lessons. We started on a high note and ended on a low note. But we have learnt our lessons and working our way to becoming heroes.
Started on a high note on January 7th, ended on a low note on March 30th; went from heroes to villains. Lessons learnt, will redeem ourselves on return from recess, will become heroes again. Once bitten twice shy! Keep the faith with the minority caucus.”
