Support Gov’t to end galamsey-MCE to residents

The MCE Wassa Amenfi East Helena Appiah has appealed to traditional leaders to support the government to end illegal mining popularly, known as galamsey.

She said the leaders and residents should expose all those mining illegal in our water bodies especially, in the area.

The MCE noted we have allowed illegal miners to mine in our water bodies and forest reserves, destroying our natural living.

She asked the area to form a volunteer group to help track illegal miners and expose them so they are punished.

Madam Helena Appiah indicated galamsey has destroyed several water bodies in the country and until Ghanaians rise up and support the government to end it, we will regret it later.

”We need your support. The area has gained notoriety for galamsey and as a people, we have to be worried. That is why I have come to you to seek your support towards the fight against illegal mining,” she stated.

She further disclosed the government was prepared to support persons who would engage in licensed small scale mining.

He asked interested persons to go through the laid down procedures to ensure they don’t engage in illegality.
