A Deputy Ranking Member on the Education Committee of Parliament Dr. Clement Apaak, has declared he feels vindicated for calling a forensic audit into the implementation of the free senior school policy since its inception.
The MP for Builsa South, who recently called on the government to conduct a forensic audit into the policy, renewed his call following information from the Ghana Education Education that it is probing some 53 secondary schools over alleged corruption into the implementation of the school feeding programme.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed the management of some Senior High Schools (SHS) in the Ashanti Region to co-operate with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service as they investigate alleged corruption related to the school feeding programme.
Some of the schools are; Afia Serwaa Kobi Ampem SHS, Adu Gyamfi SHS, Kumasi Anglican, Kumasi Girls, Kumasi Wesley Girls, KNUST SHS and Opoku Ware SHS.
Others are; Osei Tutu SHS, Prempeh College, Kumasi Academy, Kumasi Technical Institute.
Reacting Dr. Apaak explained that the letter from the GES justifies his call for a forensic audit of the free SHS programme from 2017-2020.

The MP in April this year demanded an audit into the management of free secondary education since its inception.
The legislator made the call for the audit after news broke that Ghana was importing mackerel to feed students benefitting from the free secondary education.
He noted that the audit is crucial since the budget for the implementation is expended by the presidency.
He said: “Who are the owners of the company given the contract to supply imported Chinese mackerel to all SHS in Ghana. Keep in mind that it’s the Presidency that expends the budget for the fSHS. An audit of ALL fSHS related expenditures since 2017 is most needed!”
