A lecturer and political analyst, Michael Ebo Amoah has averred that the reinstatement of Kwabena Agyepong as a former general secretary o0f the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was to be expected.

He opined that Mr. Agyepong showed remorse after he was suspended and contributed to the party’s victory in the 2020 polls.

He said Mr. Agyepong has been loyal to the NPP and has served the elephant family well.

He noted it was not surprising that President Akufo-Addo appealed to the National Executive Committee (NEC) to reinstate him.

He told host Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that some persons tried to resist5 the reinstatement of the former general secretary.

He said these persons saw him as a threat to their political ambition, adding, Mr. Agyapong is getting himself prepared for an appointment.

Mr. Michael Amoah said Ghanaians should be surprised should the President give him a political appointment.

He indicated that people should not underestimate Mr. Agyepong’s influence and popularity in the NPP.

Mr Agyepong, together with Mr Paul Afoko, a former National Chairman of the NPP and Mr Sammy Crabbe, a former Vice Chairman of the NPP were suspended indefinitely by the party in 2015.

The three got suspended by the National Executive Committee (NEC).

However, Mr. Agyepong wrote to NEC and appealed for his indefinite suspension as General Secretary of the party to be reviewed to enable him to resume his role as a former General Secretary.
