Businessman Mr. Eric Ansong, also known as ‘Japan Burger,’ has once again celebrated his birthday with inmates at the Weija Leprosarium.
The businessman this year donated cash amount to all 31 inmates as compared to previous years when he donated assorted items to the facility.
Each person was given an amount of GHc200.

In explaining the rationale behind the approach this year, he said the coronavirus had brought severe hardship on the vulnerable hence the decision to give them money.
He explained that he did not want them to go out and beg for alms and believes the money will go a long way to support them.
He was worried that the facility faces inadequate infrastructure, lack of social amenities, inadequate funding.
He advised others to support the facility because most of them have been neglected by their families.

He said: ”don’t celebrate your birthday indoors. Move out and celebrate it with the vulnerable. Show kindness to the needy and the vulnerable. They need our support”.
Aside from the cash amount, the businessman also gave the facility GHc2000.
He also feted the inmates to sumptuous meals and drinks and further donated toiletries and other items running into several thousands of Ghana cedis.
This was the tenth year in a role that the Japan Borgar has donated such items to the Leprosarium.

Mr. Ansong, who deals in building materials at Kantamanto in Accra said the inmates of the leprosarium are human, just as any other individual in the country, and need to be treated as such and cared for.
He explained that it is no fault of theirs that they had the condition and urged other businessmen and women in the country to contribute their quota to the home.
Inmates expressed their gratitude to the businessman and asked God to grant him more blessings.
