GFA got no powers to demote or promote any club-Takyi Arhin

Football Administrator and Politician, Takyi Arhin popularly known as thunder currently of Aduana Stars, has opined that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) does not have the power to either promote or demote any club in Ghana.

Speaking on Rainbow Sports, he explained that it does not lie in the hands of the GFA to promote or demote a club so, people should get it clear.

The GFA does not have the power to help a team to be promoted into the premier league neither, can they intimidate a club into relegation, he told Isaac Worlanyo.

“Anyone who will say the GFA president or Executive council member can help a team into premiership or be demoted from premiership to division one, I will take it as a pinch of salt,” Takyi Arhin said.

According to Mr Takyi Arhin, he was one of the people who criticized Kwesi Nyantakyi, the then president of GFA’s but he was able to bring Aduana stars into premiership in two years having arrived in the team, qualified BA UNITED, Techiman City, Eleven Wonders all under the auspices of Kwesi Nyantakyi.

He added that Nyantakyi was the bankroller of W2 All-Stars, but his team went to relegation despite being the GFA President.

He also asserted that although Kurt Okraku is the GFA President, his team, Dreams FC started the league on a poor note until they went for a new coach before they started winning their matches.

He urged people to stop emphasizing that the FA are capable of promoting specific clubs into the premiership and demoting or relegating others.

Mr. Arhin continued by giving his view on the hooliganism occurring lately in Ghana football saying: it is the duty of all stakeholders, GFA, the media, and other football institutions to help omit this kind of occurrence.

Currently, Mr Arhin and his team Aduana are 6th on the Ghana Premier League table with 49 points hoping to qualify to the top four flight.
