The Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh has condemned former President John Dramani Mahama for stating that the 2024 general elections will be a do-or-die affair.
The legislator said he feels disappointed and wants the former president to apologize.
Speaking in an interview on Akina Fm, Mr. Mahama said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had learnt its lesson from the 2020 polls.
He said the next 2024 elections would be a do-or-die affair, especially at the polling stations.
“You see some Military and police officers and ask whether these are indeed officers. They wear earrings and all sorts of things and you can’t tell whether this is a police officer or a soldier
“Look at what happened at Techiman South the ways they shot at the crowd, it was intended to kill people.
“We hope that the next elections we won’t see scenes like that again.
“We have learnt our lessons from happenings during the 2020 polls. The 2024 elections will be won or lost at the polling station. It will be do-or-die at the polling stations. The right thing must be done during the polls. We will win the elections at the polling station and won’t wait for collation centre results nor petition the Supreme Court if aggrieved,” he said.
But the NPP MP, in a reaction said, ”It beats understanding how Mr. Mahama’s “Thank You Tour” has degenerated into a platform for reckless commentary. How does a former President & former ECOWAS chair threaten electoral violence while belittling the ability of laws and the Supreme Courts to deliver justice?”
”Mr. Mahama must own up to his irresponsible statements and offer an unqualified apology to the people of Ghana: the people he hopes to lead,” he tweeted.
