The Takoradi-Cape Coast Kaneshie station branch chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), John Kwesi Ansah has announced that they have declared an accident-free season this year.
Appearing on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he revealed the leadership at the station has adopted measures to ensure that the station does not record any accident this festive season.
He said they have trained and admonished their drivers to maintain discipline on the roads, avoid reckless driving to ensure that they protect the lives of their passengers.
He told host Kwabena Agyapong that this year has recorded several accidents with several persons perishing.
The figures he lamented were alarming and as drivers, they must help reduce road crashes.
He announced that drivers are expected to abide by what they have been told to help the branch achieve its target.
He insisted that the station does not want to record any accident this season and that was something they were optimistic could be achieved.
Meanwhile, he has advised the government to repair deplorable roads in the country.
He explained that good roads boost the economy and generate more revenue for the country and people.
Poor roads he added deprive people of economic opportunities and worsen the plights of the people especially the poor.
