Parliament has formed a bipartisan parliamentary committee made up of ten lawmakers from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) To address issues surrounding the 2022 budget statement.
The committee has been formed following disagreements that characterized the rejection, reversal, and approval of the 2022 budget.
The House last Friday rejected the budget without the presence of the Majority.
The Majority also without the presence of the Minority reversed the decision and approved the budget.
A request by the Minority on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, to have the decision reversed was rejected as First Deputy Speaker Joseph Osei Owusu who acted as Speaker in the absence of Speaker Alban Bagbin presided.
Following these disagreements, the committee has been formed to address the issues raised on the budget.
