The Minister of Education and MP for Bosomtwe, Hon. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has emphatically stated that Ghanaian teachers are some of the best resourceful teachers across the world.
In his answer to a parliamentary question on the status of procurement of textbooks for the implementation of the new curriculum, he stated that “Ghana has very resourceful teachers and once they are provided an opportunity to do the learner part, they can do a fantastic job,” he said.
Mr. Adutwum indicated that teachers are one of the most very committed and resourceful because 400 students obtained 8A1 in the 2021 WASSCE which shows that the teachers are doing well.
He said even though the procurement of textbooks for the new curriculum is not completed, the government is committed to providing textbooks for easy learning.
He was responding to a question on the impact of quality in the absence of textbooks for the new curriculum when he appeared before Parliament on Thursday, December 9, 2021.
He said even without new textbooks, our teachers are performing well because they are resourceful.
He told the House they have not done any assessment to determine the impact of quality in the absence of textbooks but quickly added that teachers in Ghana are one of the most resourceful in the world, even in the face of challenges.
He said the Ministry would soon do the assessment and respond accordingly.
