Five persons have been shot dead following a shoot-out between the Police and suspected assailants who had wanted to allegedly kill a traditional ruler at Gomoa Fetteh.
Rainbow Radio gathered that the Central East Police Command picked intelligence that some eight persons were plotting to kill the chief of the area, Nana Abori Atta II.
Acting on the intelligence, the Police deployed men who pursued the suspected men who were on their way to the Palace to allegedly kill the chief.
The Police, and the suspects, engaged in a shoot out, a situation which led to the death of five of the suspects.
After a search, the Police retrieved several ammunition and guns.
The Police are currently investigating the matter.
The situation has also created fear and panic in the area.
The chief expressed shock at the incident and has asked the Police to investigate and deal with the matter.
Meanwhile, two of the suspects are on the run.
