The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has asked the government to return all its confiscated properties.
The party’s General Secretary Nana Yaa Jantuah appealed when she represented the party to deliver a fraternal message at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference held in Kumasi on Sunday, December 19, 2021.
After the 1966 overthrow of Ghana’s first President and CPP leader, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, all assets belonging to the party were confiscated by the state.
The properties are mostly building located in the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western, Central, Eastern and Brong Ahafo Regions.
The CPP has in recent times been demanding the release of these buildings, and in her message, Nana Yaa Jantuah said the return of the confiscated assets would be a moment of reconciliation for the entire country.
Nana Yaa Jantuah said the return of the confiscated assets was long overdue.
”Yes, it has to be returned to us as a form of reparation, as a form of reconciliation. We want to put on notice that the building that is housing the Ministry o0f Information used to be our headquarters and this headquarters was built by the toil of the rank and file of the party especially the market women who were the foundation and support for the CPP,” she added.
