Founder and General Overseer of the Perez Chapel Bishop Charles Agyinasare, has reacted to the recent statement issued by the Ghana Police Service indicating they (Police) were analyzing prophecies from the December 31, watch night church services to see if any of them breached the laws of Ghana.
The respected man of God in his view noted that “it was okay for the Police to caution us about prophecies that cause fear and panic especially that has to do with notable personalities”.
“However, for the Police to issue a statement on the 6th of January, 2022 that they are analyzing prophecies of the various churches is trying to legislate prophecies.”
He made the remarks during a church service on Sunday, January 9, 2022.
Bishop Charles Agyinasare used Prophet Agabus in the Bible to buttress his point that the said prophet gave a prophecy about a great famine across the world and other prophecies.
The Presiding Bishop noted that “as a prophet, God can open my eyes to see a church member is going to die if we don’t pray. And if the person is notable, I would have to tell them in secret so as not to create confusion. But I may have to tell him”, he said.
Bishop Agyinasare further gave several quotations on examples of prophecies and how the various prophets communicated them.
He used an example of Paul when he was embarking on a journey where he prophesied that the voyage would crash (Acts 27-10, Acts 27:23-26).
The prophet said sometimes our meteorological agency makes predictions with their scientific machines which cause fear and at times, the things they say, don’t come to pass.
“So the Police administration having admonished us to be careful about prophecies that will cause fear etc, by and large, 31st night, the church complied. They should not use their scarce resources in trying to analyze our prophecies. If we are not careful, very soon, they would be analyzing our sermons and telling us what to preach.
When we study and practice what new testament prophecy is, which is for edification, that is building up; exaltation, which is encouragement and comfort.”
He added that the new testament prophecy impacts the gifts of the spirit.
“And so I want to admonish the Police Administration that they have done their best. Yes, they’ve told us we should be careful about prophecies that would cause danger and fear, and panic. By and large, the church complied. They should not legislate prophecies because they do not have what it takes to legislate prophecy. They should leave that to spiritual people. We promise them that we will make sure that there would not be confusion,” he added.
