The government will today, Wednesday, February 2, 2022, hold its second town hall meeting on the controversial E-levy at Takoradi in the Western Region.
Expected to speak at the meeting would be the
Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta; Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah; Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Otchere Darko-Mensah; Justina Marigold Assan, the Central Regional Minister, and Andrew Egyapa Mercer, the Sekondi MP.
The second event is being held after the main edition was held last week in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua.
The town hall meetings are being held to explain the importance of the E-levy to Ghanaians as well as take feedback and inputs from relevant stakeholders on the levy.
The E-levy is a new tax measure introduced by the government in the 2022 Budget on basic transactions related to digital payments and electronic platform transactions.
A charge of 1.75% will apply to electronic transactions that are more than GH¢100 on a daily basis.
