Brogya Genfi drags AG to Supreme Court over the nomination of Maxwell Opoku Agyemang for consideration as Appeal Court judge

Brogya Genfi has dragged the Attorney-General to court on the nomination of Maxwell Opoku Agyemang to the Court of Appeal.

In his writ to invoke the original jurisdiction of the Supreme Court, he argued that the nominee is qualified to be appointed as Justice of the Court of Appeal.

He based in argument on the findings of Tony Forson Jnr chaired committed that the nominee illegally admitted 10 students into the Ghana Law School.

To him, he is not high moral character and proven integrity for the purposes of being appointed.

He stated that our Court of Appeal Justices are expected to be persons of high moral character and proven integrity in accordance with Article 136(3) of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana. For the avoidance of doubt, Article 136(3) states;
“A person shall not be qualified for appointment as a Justice of the Court of Appeal unless he is of high moral character and proven integrity and is of not less than twelve years’ standing as a lawyer.”
