The makeshift Takoradi market has caught fire, Rainbowradioonline.com has gathered.
The fire which started in the early hours of Monday, April 5, 2022, is said to have destroyed several structures and properties worth millions of Ghana cedis.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service are currently at the market dousing the fire.
They have received support from personnel from the Navy and Takoradi Port who have also brought in tenders and water tankers.
It was however a challenge for the fire personnel was to have access to move their fire tender into the market while getting water from hydrants in the metropolis.
This notwithstanding, the firemen who initially looked helpless have been able to bring the fire under control after about four hours.
Items sold at the market were Yam, groundnuts, Beans, Textile, Food Spices, Cooked foods among others.
