We need new logistics to fight fires, what we’ve are all old-GNFS

The Ghana National Fire Service has underscored the need for them to retool to meet the changing face of fire fighting in Ghana.

The Service says despite its efforts in fighting a fire in Ghana, they lack some logistics to help them combat outbreaks.

Public Relations Officer for the GNFS D.O1 Timothy Osafo Affum, speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, said they will need more logistics to combat a fire.

”I will not sit on this platform and lie that we have it all. We need new logistics. We need a lot. The little ones we have are also obsolete and so we need new ones. The machines we have cannot perform as expected because they are old.

For instance, if we have a station in Abelemkpe and we dispatch a vehicle, we will later receive a call that the vehicle had stopped along the way hence we need to deploy another vehicle.”

He added that ”it is not as if we do not have the skills and competence in combating fire. We have the skills and competence, but we lack the needed logistics. If we get the logistics, we will work efficiently.

We all must support the service in combating fire instead of always blaming the service when things go wrong.”
