May 9, 2022

As the ban on noise making begins today, Monday, May 9, 2022, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly has admonished residents, churches, and others to abide by the rules.

A statement issued by the AMA said during the period, churches are expected to carry out their activities within their church premises and refrain from using musical instruments.

The positioning of musical instruments outside church premises, pubs, and public places is banned.

Also, roadside evangelism according to the AMA is banned from today till June 9, 2022, which is the period for the ban on noise making.

It added that religious bodies and traditional authorities must respect each other and obey the ban.

Funerals and related activities have also been banned by the Ga Traditional Council.

During this period, the Ga state will fast and pray for rainfall and a bumper harvest. The Ga State will also pray for the country and its citizens to continue to keep the peace, love, tranquillity, and good spirit.

The lifting of the ban will be at the forecourt of Gbese Mantse’s palace on June 9, 2022.

A task force has been put together within the various Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to work with the police to monitor, ensure compliance and prosecute persons found to be defying the ban.
