Ghanaians must prepare for more heavy rainfalls- Meteorologist

An Aviation Meteorologist Inspector for Ghana, Reverend Dr Stephen Nyakotey-Kwaw, has asked Ghanaians to put in adequate measures to prepare for the rains.

He warned we would experience heavy downpours from now until July hence we have to prepare for them.

He told Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5 Fm that the country will also experience some slight weather changes.

Rev. Dr. Nyakotey-Kwaw said, “this year there is going to be heavy downpour along the coastal belt and so we must all prepare.”

He also cautioned that “it can be very dangerous to walk about when it is about to rain.”

He explained that we are currently experiencing a combination of thunderstorms and normal rains, which are being recorded from Nigeria and Ethiopia.

He said the rains are from bellies from the sea, but we will soon see a reduction in them.

He further explained that rainfall patterns that usually characterise the June-July rainy season, started in earnest soon.

He stressed the need for Ghanaians to be wary, to forestall any danger.

The Meteorologist stated that several areas in the country will continue to experience heavy rainfall as July gradually approaches.

He said the Southern part of Ghana will continue to experience rainfall until the end of August.
