‘I withdrew from the NPP race so I could campaign for Bawumia, he’s the one to break the 8’- Obiri Boahen

Deputy General of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), lawyer Obiri Boahen, has disclosed that he did not contest the national executive elections because of his ”Mamprusi Agenda.”

He told Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that he withdrew from the race because he has an agenda to support Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the presidential slot race.

Although he did not mention his name directly, he said, ”I did not contest because the party does not allow national executives to campaign for any candidate, and because I have an agenda to support my candidate who is from Mamprusi, I did not contest”.

”The man I am supporting loves to smile. He is known as the one who led the digitization drive. He is from Mamprusi.”

When asked if his choice was not Dr. Bawumia, he told the host, ‘if that is what you are saying, so be it’.

He was optimistic Dr. Bawumia would emerge as the elected presidential candidate and also win the 2024 presidential polls to break the 8-year-jinx for the elephant family.

Meanwhile, he has asked delegates of the party to elect competent and dedicated persons for the national position.

He said although delegates are the ones to elect the executives, they should make the right choice.

To the aspirants, he asked them to run decent campaigns devoid of vilification, attacks, and insults.
