The Trades Union Congress (TUC), has served notice that it will join the strike action by the various pre-tertiary teacher unions over the demand for a 20% Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA).
Four teacher unions are on strike to demand the payment of a cost of living allowance.
GNAT, NAGRAT, TEWU AND CCT have vowed to remain on strike until their demand is met.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting between the government and teacher unions which ended in a deadlock, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress, Joshua Ansah, they are prepared to join the strike if COLA is not paid.
“There is nothing to negotiate over. Everyone is requesting for what is due them. We are all preparing to go on strike if government does not give us anything reasonable. We all want better Cost of Living Allowances.”
