A former lecturer at the Methodist University Dr. Osei Bonsu, has posited that the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has no moral right to ask the 16 regional chairpersons who declared for John Boadu to resign.
The political scientist says if that was the case, Kennedy Agyapong should also rescind his decision in contesting the presidential slot.
He said as someone who has an interest in becoming a leader of the NPP as a presidential candidate, he should not have campaigned against John Boadu.
Dr. Bonus said just like the regional chairpersons campaigned or endorsed John Boadu, Kennedy Agyapong also campaigned against him.
“He is guilty of the same crime. As someone who wants to become a presidential candidate, you do not do that. If he wants them to resign, he should also forget about the desire to become the presidential candidate.”
I am not supporting the 16 regional chairpersons. But Kennedy Agyapong was wrong and the chairpersons were also wrong. You are in the same soup with them so why do you want them to resign? You should be the first to resign if you want them to resign”.
He further advised the party to formulate a law that will prevent party executives from endorsing candidates.
Such actions he suggested breed division, mistrust, and unfairness.
